About two months ago, I overheard a woman talking to a co-worker. I don't remember exactly what she said, but I do remember two words that stuck out: "Killer Carl." I don't know what it was, but something about those two words stuck in my head, and I saw an image. I rushed to my sketchbook, and started drawing. Just a simple sketch, but there it sat in my sketchbook, languishing and unused.
Last week, I remembered the sketch, and started drawing. I didn't know what I was doing with it. I took the background (which I'd completed) to the illustrators lunch I go to on Wednesdays. The illustrators said it looked like the beginning of a great comic book cover. Suddenly, I realized how to finish the piece.
This is the background. I'm working on the foreground piece now.
